Economic Disadvantage
Are you at an economic disadvantage? Is it your fault? Is it too late? Well let’s take a look and see. We will look at two people, Bob and Sally.
First Bob. Bob is a college grad from one of those Ivy covered schools. He is married with 2 children, a beautiful house in a great neighborhood and of course all the fancy cars and toys. Bob has been with his employer for 15 years and is the primary breadwinner. This career has been wonderful. Bob has moved up through the ranks, is always at the top of the earning curve and qualifies for all the perks. From time to time people have approached Bob about business opportunities, but Bob turns them down. Bob has all he needs, he says. Another friend asks Bob to join a Referral Club and to go to Networking events, but Bob is too busy and sees no need for that kind of thing. Then the economy goes a little south and Bob’s position is eliminated. Bob now has no income, his 401k has lost 40% of it’s value and there are hundreds of others just as qualified as Bob fighting for a few positions. Oh by the way, Bob owes on the house, car and toys and has 40K in credit card debt. Sorry Bob.
Now let’s look at Sally. Sally finished high school got married and had 4 children. Sally was a stay at home mom and loved every minute of it. About 10 years into the marriage Sally’s husband lost his job, ran off with another women, and almost never pays child support. Sally though has been doing day care out of her home, been involved in two different network marketing companies, has just joined a Referral Club and makes at least 4 Networking events each month. Sally made sure that she never over extended their finances so she has no car payment, very little credit card debt and a manageable mortgage payment. As soon as Sally’s husband left she got into a third network marketing company, started blogging about how to raise kids as a single parent, makes connections with as many people as she can and started her own singles networking events. Unlike Bob, Sally is almost debt free and has passive cash flow every month. At the same time Bob is losing his career, Sally has sold her day care business, is making money from 4 different network marketing companies, has 2 other business’s and is getting ready to marry a wonderful man she met at a networking event.
Are you at an economic disadvantage? If you depend on a job, the answer is yes.
Is it your fault? If your situation is anything like one income Bob the answer is yes.
Is it too late? No of course not. You can stop watching TV and go to a networking event. Stop thinking you can do it on your own and join a referral club. Stop listening to others and get yourself into a business or two. First and foremost, believe in yourself!

Gold Star Referral Clubs
Today we are going to take a look at Gold Star Referral Clubs.
Why is Gold Star different from other groups?
We have breakfast AND lunch meetings available.
Our meetings are not overly long. Lunch starts at 11:45 and ends promptly at 1:00 PM. Breakfast starts at 7:15 and ends right at 8:30. They're all about business. No boring business reports or long lectures.
We have an agenda that is geared toward giving and receiving referrals. Our visitors usually comment on the upbeat structure and the amount of qualified referrals that are exchanged.
Once you have a home Club (Hub Club), you can visit other Gold Star Referral Clubs as much as you want as long as your industry is not already covered in that other Club. Your network opens to hundreds! The more members present, the more business that's passed. MEMBERS LOVE THIS! This is a BIG advantage.
At Gold Star Clubs, there are NO FINES. Other groups may fine you for being late, or for not giving a tip/lead, or for missing a meeting.
Gold Star Directors bring visitors to your Club. We help recruit, develop and maintain the numbers in your Club.
Membership Committees do not discipline or censure other members or send them letters of warning or put them on probation or kick them out.
The exclusive "Make it right" Program developed by Gold Star Referral Clubs, manages conflict without disturbing a Club's positive environment. Any concern that needs attending to is done by a Membership Ambassador outside the Club, not by the members.
We'll start a group just about anywhere. If we can find 3-5 core members and a place to meet, we can get a club going. In other organizations, if your category is taken, like Lender or Realtor, you are just out of luck. Gold Star is always ready to start another Club for enthusiastic members.
Our absence policy is more understanding and we will grant a leave of absence for family and job-related reasons, not just medical.
We encourage you to become active in your local Chamber of Commerce and to attend open networking events in your area. Other groups can be territorial and many frown on outside networking.
We educate, train and teach some of the most pro-active networking skills available. Networking Success Trainings are available every month.
Every week the Club Business Coach teaches a networking success tip written by experienced, master networkers.
Being a Leader is not like having a second job. Everything is online and easy to manage in the Member's Room.
Last by not least, we're different! Gold Star Referral Club members have contagiously upbeat and positive attitudes. We're having fun and passing business.

Compliment Your Way to Success
Ok, you show up at the office. It has been a very bad morning, everything that could go wrong did. Kids fighting, dog ran away, no coffee and you are late. As you make the way through the maze a co-worker looks at you and says, "your hair looks great today". WOW, all of a sudden all the bad stuff leaves and you feel light on your feet.
There is Power in the compliment.
Now a compliment is not fluff, make it real and sincere. People know when you are blowing smoke up their, well you know.
So here we go, remember start every interaction off with a smile. Then find one true thing you can compliment that person on. Sally that new hair style makes your eyes really shine, or Bob that is an awesome Tie where did you get it. Not only will you make their day, but you will be surprised at how open they are to whatever you want to present to them.
I think the best part is how good you will feel about yourself for looking at others first and building them up.
The more you give the more you will get back, and wow it is fun to give. Try it, your business will love you for it.

I am the best I can be today!
I am the best I can be today, but I will be better tomorrow. The daily grind of life should not be a daily grind. Everyday you should be doing something for self improvement. I think it should be more than one, or more than one area. I look at self improvement as a journey in several areas. Lets look at them.
Physical - What do you do to improve your health? Walk, run, bike, gym or just play with the kids. Get up, get out and get fit.
Spiritual - What do you do for your eternal soul? I am a Christian, I spend time every day in prayer and reading the word of God. What works for you? Work on your soul everyday.
Mental - What have you learned today? We have all heard, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste". It is! Start learning a new language, read a book, take a class. Spend time learning.
Emotional - What have you done for you? I have said this before, smile. A smile will make your face shine from the outside in. Happy people draw people to them. Try it, it works for me.
Financial - What? Doing the 4 things above will increase your bottom line on a daily basis. The better you feel in body, mind and spirit will translate to more business.
All of these things can be done in just a few minutes everyday. Get up a few minutes early and pray, take a walk after dinner, listen to an audio book in the car, read instead of watching TV. I know that you can be a better you everyday.

A smile a day!
I know when I walk down the street or walk into a room I am drawn to the people that smile at me. In everyday life things are always on your mind that seem to take away your joy. The smile can make all those things seem to melt away.
Start your day with a smile to the one you are closest too, You. First thing when you are in the bathroom in the morning having your private moment look in the mirror and smile. Try to keep that with you all day, on the street, on the train, in the elevator and at the office. Every time you see a new face, smile. Every time you feel down, smile. Slice that golf ball deep in the woods, smile, (I am an expert at the slice so if you are looking for instruction let me know).
An lets forget all that junk about the number of muscles it takes to frown vs smile, who cares. What matters is that you will feel better about your self and others will be drawn to you. All for the smile. Try it and see what happens.
Until next time :)

Become a more successful networker!
What are you doing to become a better you? A better Networker? We all know that the more referrals we give the more we will get back. The question is though how do we become better at giving referrals. What is the magic bullet that will propel me to becoming a referral giving machine?
Well here it is. Wait for it! Wait for it! There isn't one. That's right there is no one thing that makes this all come together. No one thing that makes all of this easy and simple. So what do I do and where do I start you ask? You can call it anything you want, self improvement, education, whatever. The key is everyday you need to be watching, reading or listening to something that will expand your boundaries. Something that will challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone and go for it.
There is a great new free online magazine with a lot of great information that should help you on this path. Check out Referral Success Magazine, at www.referralsuccessmagazine.com
One more little tip I would like to give, beware of online training that charges a fee. I'm just saying!!! There is a ton of good free information on the net. Also if you are not a member of a Referral Club, what are you waiting for. Referral Clubs not only have the benefit of referrals, but also offer education and leadership training. www.goldstardirectors.com/1466
Till next time, Michael Now get out there and build your business.
